In 2014, a joint International research on safety and environment (SERC) using AIS, RADAR and ADS-B systems was established. This reserach center was organized by Perkumpulan Ahli Kelautan Mekanik Ruang Angkasa untuk Ilmuwan-Insinyur. The society has been registered under Menteri Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia Republik Indonesia, registered no: AHU-00111.60.10-2014. This society has nickname as the International Society of Ocean, Mechanical and Aerospace – Scientists and Engineers – by collaboration with academic and research institutions. The SERC focuses on safety and evironmental issues caused by transportation systems. The SERC currently has three station recievers in Indonesia and one station in Malaysia and three more stations under planning in Indonesia.

The target of SERC is gathered the researchers involved in areas of ocean and aerospace on comunication and navigation area by collecting data for research purposes and sharing their expertise, discuss researches issues on safety and environment. We believe interchangeable of idea and sharing knowdledge between researchers are important point to grow up the sciences and engineering which is benefit for word wide communities. Therefore, we believe this SERC will able to refresh the research experience of the people in these areas and generate impact for the cross discipline research collaboration and knowledge exchange.
